STONE SOUR, LIVE Members Pay Tribute To CHRIS CORNELL At ROCK ON THE RANGE Festival (Video)
May 20, 2017STONE SOUR's Corey Taylor and Christian Martucci paid tribute to Chris Cornell Friday night (May 19) at the Rock On The Range festival in Columbus, Ohio.
Tonight's headlining slot was to feature SOUNDGARDEN, but that band's appearance was canceled as a result of Cornell's tragic death.
Just before Taylor and Martucci's performance, LIVE played set that included a version of AUDIOSLAVE's "I Am The Highway" in the SOUNDGARDEN singer's honor.
The STONE SOUR members took the stage and performed a cover of PINK FLOYD's classic "Wish You Were Here", followed by a rendition of the Cornell-penned TEMPLE OF THE DOG song "Hunger Strike".
After Taylor and Martucci played, video and audio footage was displayed of Cornell's various projects, including his isolated vocals in the SOUNDGARDEN song "Black Hole Sun".
Cornell apparently committed suicide by hanging on Wednesday night (May 18) after SOUNDGARDEN played a show in Detroit. He was 52 years old.
Cornell's family issued a statement Friday questioning whether his death by hanging was intentional and if "substances contributed to his demise."
Chris and his wife Vicky had two children, 12-year-old Toni and 11-year-old Christopher, while Chris also had a 16-year-old daughter, Lillian Jean, from his first marriage to former SOUNDGARDEN manager Susan Silver.
